Mass production is now indispensable in Modern Society. Much of what we use complies with it, quality has stabilized and costs have dropped significantly. On the other hand, it also led to the individualization of products. Objects created from the same formwork are inorganically designed and stored in the shape intended by humans. Items that are out of the standard are labeled as bad and discarded.

So I decided to propose a product that organically changes from one type.

“PRESSURE” is a piece of furniture that is produced from the same model, but with different shapes. I used latex rubber for the formwork and chose urethane foam as the material for the chair. Latex rubber has excellent elasticity and creates play in the formwork. Urethane foam changes its shape depending on the water content in the air and does not produce the same shape. The interaction of two materials produces a unique shape from the same mold.

Things that change due to the surrounding natural phenomena should appear to be charming in a world in which uniform shapes governed by mass production dominate. Rather than selecting according to one standard so that people can accept that the appearance and personality are diverse, propose a society that accepts all forms.
