Voile by Muriel Brunet

This project explores the idea that light can dictate form. Voile – French for "sail" – was designed to evoke an object brimming with luminosity, akin to how wind breathes life into a sail, giving it shape. Central to my endeavor was a fascination with objects that fall between two and three dimensions.
Voile lies flat on the wall until the user, by pulling the string, gives the fixture volume and light. Three overlapping lampshades are then illuminated and revealed. Finally, each lamp can be opened to three levels, corresponding to different luminosities and shapes.
The changing shapes offer the user a moment of playful interaction with the piece and beckon them towards a more intimate engagement with luminosity.
