Tokyo-based designer Masaki Kato, a founder of architectural design studio Puddle launched the brand named 'Puddle Sound' with the concept of “Create a new experience connecting sound and people.” They released the tube amplifier “ #001 TOKYO” designed by Kato himself. The amplifier will be installed in a room on the top floor of the hotel “sequence | MIYASHITA PARK” in Shibuya, where Puddle was in charge of room design.
When we asked Kato about the purpose of establishing the brand, he replied, “I wanted to create a new experience by thinking differently from client work and intended to embody the idea of bringing a comfortable sound environment to space.”
Based on their vision, “Today, we can access our favourite music in our pocket and bring it with us everywhere at any time. What if we could make people more conscious of the sound we have associated with places and times as a memory linked to a specific place,” the design was carried out with clay plaster, glass and steel. Kato also intended to create an artistic presence, he said.
This amplifier, which was conceived as a different concept from the usual electronic products, was finished with the finest level of craftsmanship.
