A soft minimalism design for confectionery with a tiny cafe in Azabu-jyuban, Tokyo. The owner runs both this shop and his own graphic design studio. Before starting this shop, he developed unique vegetable-made sweets for his new business.
The designer Fumihiko Fujii, a founder of Tokyo-based design studio Fan Inc., created a white minimalist style interior with terrazo-made table having hand-craft touch. The space shows a slight sense of Japaneseness.
Fujii told that 'We always care not only for the architectural design but also their business aspects especially for the newly established shop.' He described that we could decide to choose this simplified fit-out without decoration because the owner understood the value of the simplicity. Also, Fujii believed in the sense of their visual merchandising and beautiful packaging design from owner's experiences as a seasoned graphic designer.
Above the display table, flower shape steel-made pendant light was designed from the brand identity printed on an entrance curtain. Utilizing the hand-crafted texture in the iron shelf, custom-made pendant lights, and terrazzo-made display table, the store design tells the backstory of the healthy vegetable-made sweets and the characteristics of the honest owner.
