The aging and long-term disrepair of the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan has gradual- ly faded the halo of the Alishan Forest Railway. In order to make the history, the nature, and the humanity of the Alishan Forest Railway more active, through the origi- nal characteristics of its rich forest resources and railway facilities, the Alishan Forest Railway Tourism Revival Plan was established after space planning.
1. Enjoying natural life
Camping train The camping train is a transformation of the train carriage, so that the train carriage not only has the function of transportation, but also combines the function of field camping, so that you can not merely take the train, but also enjoy the camping life and the nature of Alishan Scenery.
2. Communication between food and people
Canteen train Extending the ordinary train restaurant into a restaurant that can be opened at fixed points. When the train is running, passengers can eat and enjoy the scenery along the way. When they arrive at the destination, they can use the characteristics of separable carriages to separate at the fixed stations and let the carriages become a restaurant for local operation. This facility can reduce excessive development and personnel costs on the mountain, and can also be used as a space for local residents and tourists to communicate with each other.
3. The combination of history, accommodation and railways
Garage hotel The Garage Hotel is an old train garage converted into a hotel. There are not only ordinary guest rooms, but the camping train parked here can also be used as a guest room. The hotel does not have a restaurant. Instead, a long-term canteen train is opened here. The hotel has a library, an observatory, etc., so that passengers who have not boarded the train can also take advantage of these modified trains and facilities.
The above the three-point plan is the entire backbone of this tourism revival plan. The new train use functions that are no longer limited to transportation. The newly designed camping trains, mobile train restaurants and brand new garage hotels, etc. Innovation of tradition, combined with culture, nature, and railway facilities, makes Alishan have a more diverse range of tourism services characteristics, which can cater to this era.
