ONE MINUTE
The form of a one-minute pause in the city
One Minute focuses on the brief moments when people pause in the city. In front of stations, along streets, or near parks, people often stop for a short time—leaning against guardrails, lightly perching, or waiting. Although guardrails are not originally designed for resting, the way people naturally use them gradually changes their meaning within urban space.
The project examines different durations of stay—1 minute, 3 minutes, and 5 minutes—and translates changes in bodily behavior into form. A leaning form, an M-shaped perch for short pauses, and an L-shaped support that allows the body to rest express different postures corresponding to different lengths of stay.
Even within a single minute, a subtle connection with the city can emerge. During this moment, one may briefly empty the mind while sensing the flow of people and the movement of the street. Just One Minute captures a time generated by small and ordinary actions. Yet within that minute, a small urban world quietly unfolds.
Through these fleeting moments, the project observes the subtle relationships that arise between people and the city, gently reinterpreting them as urban furniture.
