Tokyo based design studio MOMENT, founded by Hisaaki Hirawata and Tomohiro Watabe, has designed ISSEY MIYAKE MEN in Nagoya, Japan. Based on previous concepts, strength and stoicism, as well as inspiration from natural objects derived from their fashion exhibition, the design duo used scorched steel plates as a “natural phenomenon” that could be expressed in the space.
They said, “We chose the hot rolled steel as an appropriate material for the background of the sophisticated clothing and to evoke a sense of nature. This steel plate is one of the pieces we've been experimenting with. We also wanted to create an interactive experience between materials and people that changes with the movement of people and the viewpoint. Through this custom-made material, we would like to share the brand's philosophy to customers.”
