Scrapdrum Chair by Gota Mino
Tokyo Zokei University | Department of Design | Furniture, Interior & Architecture Major
Scraped material has a story of someone's use, and the scratches, dents, and rust remain as memories.
I used a scrap drum as the material. The drum was used to transport gasoline and other fuels at the Aoki Stone Quarry in Hiroshima, Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture, on the Seto Inland Sea.
In its heyday, there were at least 68 docks in Hiroshima, but now there are only a few, and the population is declining.
However, the people's long history remains there.
It must never be lost.
Through this work, I aimed to create something with a new value, with a uniqueness to the place, without losing the charm of the scrap drum.
