The space we live in is made up of a collection of many objects and materials. They can have a profound effect on living environment and people.

Styrofoam is known for its insulation and cushioning properties. It is strong in water, light and durable. it is also easy to process.

This time, I made some furniture to match the unique properties of Styrofoam.

The surface of ‘Seam of skin’ is dissolved by painting Styrofoam, which is made from polystyrene, with Nitrocellulose lacquer.

And the Styrofoam is glued together by pressing it before the surface of ‘Seam of skin’ is dry.

In that way, original colors of the Styrofoam and the colors of paints are exposed alternately on the cut section of laminated Styrofoam. And on, a texture like the grain of wood is generated in this cut section.

By identifying the true nature of all subjects and materials and by treating them as something other than what they are originally intended to be used for, this artificial texture will create new value in a space composed of a collection of many objects and materials.
